What’s on in Geneva this week? (14-18 October)

All quiet in Geneva this week as the disarmament action continues at the UNGA First Committee in New York. The First Committee got off to a slow start last week, with adoption of the programme of work delayed because of a dispute over visas for members of some delegations. The general debate did not start until Thursday (for a report and assessment of the truncated first week, we recommend the First Committee Monitor). It is not yet clear exactly how the delay will affect the rest of the Committee’s schedule (check for programme updates here). For those following the action this week, you can watch live on UN Web TV, and read statements on Reaching Critical Will’s website or the UN’s Papersmart portal. There is also a busy schedule of side-events: see our events page for a handy updated listing combining the Reaching Critical Will and UNODA listings.
